Cumberland has a heritage in electrochemical processes since 1912 when Elliott Cumberland established The Cumberland Engineering Company to provide corrosion and scale control in industrial boilers and in 1916 launched cathodic protection systems for locomotive engines.

Cumberland Electrochemical Limited was established in the UK in 1949 and now, is among the leading electrochemical engineering companies in the World.

With a background in cathodic protection and anode manufacture, Cumberland expanded into the design and manufacture of electro-chlorination equipment in 1970.

Since that time we have developed an extensive and impressive portfolio of International clients and project references based on our high efficiency Panclor™ electrolyser.

Now Cumberland is one of the World’s leading electro-chlorination plant manufacturers serving the power, oil & gas, petrochemical, wastewater treatment, desalination and marine industries. With an emphasis on electrochemical process design and a commitment to continuous research and development in our field, we have been at the leading edge of electrochemical technology since our formation in 1949.

Our World renowned PANCLOR™ , ELCHLOR™ and NATCHLOR™ brands of electrolysers and systems are installed in hundreds of locations throughout the World providing environmentally safe on site disinfection for a variety of applications.

Cumberland have design and project engineering offices in the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and India and retain a network of agents, partners and systems integrators throughout the World.

Our new generation cell technology is the culmination of our dedication to continuing product development, engineering excellence and quality assurance procedures. All our installations are fully supported by highly trained, commissioning, after sales service and product support teams.

The Company is structured with engineering centres in the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and India with equipment manufacturing capabilities at all locations. Our facilities are well positioned for both air and road communication being located within one hour of the major international Heathrow Airport, Dubai International Airport and Chennai International Airport. All electrolyser cell assembly and anode manufacturing takes place at our facility in The United Kingdom.
