About us

Cumberland has a heritage in electrochemical processes since 1912 when Elliott Cumberland established The Cumberland Engineering Company to provide corrosion and scale control in industrial boilers and in 1916 launched cathodic protection systems for locomotive engines.

Cumberland Electrochemical Limited was established in the UK in 1949 and now, is among the leading electrochemical engineering companies in the World.

ELECTROLYTIC HYPOCHLORITE GENERATION

PANCLOR™ Technology

The PANCLOR™ electrolyser is the heart of any PANCLOR™ system, each electrolyser consists of a series of electrolytic cells, typically 10 cells in series arranged as a multi-fingered bipole, the number of fingers in each cell specifically sized for the output capacity of the electrolyser.

  • PANCLOR™ electrolyser skids
  • Transformer Rectifier Units
  • Motor control centre (MCC)
  • System control panel (PLC)

uniquely simple construction

ELCHLOR™ Technology

Cumberland's ELCHLOR™ cells have been specifically designed for off shore and marine applications where acid cleaning of plate type electrolysers is undesirable. In the ELCHLOR™ cell the tubular anode and cathode are mounted

potable water applications

NATCHLOR™ Technology

Cumberland's NATCHLOR™ cells and systems are designed specifically for operation on artificial brine sources, i.e. food grade salt. These products and process are used extensively on potable water applications where the requirement for minimisation of disinfection by products (DBP's) is paramount.

  • Low risk assessment requirements
  • Minimal maintenance requirements
  • Low capital costs

uniquely simple construction

C-TREAT™ -
Ballast Water Treatment

The most commonly occurring method of Global transfer of non indigenous species has been found to be transfer through shipping industry ballast water. The resulting ecological and economical damage has been enormous and resulted in whole new market for Cumberland traditional disinfection technologies.
